The first order of business was just getting out to the swamp. (The last time I did this it was at noon, and I almost died
climbing up and down over the tangled grass in the hot sun.) A little weed whacking made it a piece of cake to stroll out
there.
You can see the weeping willow tree at our closest corner. Behind it are our cypress trees.
Here are the tools I tested. The new weed whacker, with just the string head it came with, cut thru the California grass
pretty easily. (It was the crack of dawn for coolness, and I don't know how the noise traveled to the neighbors.) The hook
knife taped to a stick was an easy way to pull the grass out of a tree. You can see the one tree I cleared. A good first day's
stab.
